Carolyn Joyce Brown, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 22, 2026. In honoring her wishes, the family plans to have private memorial.
Carolyn was born September 13, 1944, in Akron, OH, to Agnes Burke and Howard Ferguson from Dayton, TN. As a young girl, Carolyn’s family moved to Battle Creek, MI. In 1963, she met and married her husband, Von Brown, who was stationed in Battle Creek during his service in the United Stated Air Force. During this time, they relocated to Homestead, FL. Then in 1964, Von finished his service in the USAF and they moved to Rex, GA. They settled there to grow their family where they raised two daughters and a son. With their kids grown and married, Carolyn and Von moved back to Von’s hometown of Twin City in 2000.
Carolyn loved spending time sitting and talking with family and friends. Some of her favorite times were spent with the ladies of the Glad Garden Club in Swainsboro, along with talking and staying in touch with her life-long friends from Atlanta. Carolyn’s favorite hobby was to sit and watch her pair of Swans swimming in the pond in front of her home. She was a loving wife and mother, and was kind, gracious and filled with love for her family until the very end.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Von Brown of Emanuel County; her daughters, Katherine and her husband, Daryl Blankinship, of Cartersville, GA; Kimberly and her husband, Thomas Henry, of Twin City, GA; and her son, Michael Brown and his wife, April, of Woodstock, GA. Carolyn has 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters along with 3 great-granddaughters. She is survived by her two sisters, Brenda Depuy of Daytona Beach, FL and Maryann Herbstrieth of Battle Creek, MI and her cousin Larry Swafford of Battle Creek, MI.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested a short letter of how you met Carolyn and the time you spent with her, and how she impacted your life, and it to [email protected]. Her three children will collect the letters as a keepsake for her husband, kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
