Glenda Davis Franklin, 82

Glenda Davis Franklin, age 82, of Albany, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, July 11, at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church with the service immediately following at 2 p.m.

Glenda was born to Glynn and Doris Davis in Ft. Rucker, Alabama. During her childhood, she and her family lived in Brunswick, Alma and Hazelhurst. Her family moved to Swainsboro in 1956, where she graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1961. Glenda met Tommy L. Franklin at The Record Hop in Swainsboro, and they married on June 18, 1961. Their family grew to four with the birth of their two sons, Mark and Keith.

The Franklin family moved to Albany in 1967. Glenda was. a homemaker, mother, and wife who also worked outside the home. She was employed by MacGregor Golf Company as an administrative assistant for 13 years, retiring later as an agent for American General Insurance Company. Glenda was a self-taught artist, using her talent in service to her community as well as creating beautiful pieces of art that she gifted to her family and friends. She painted many pumpkins and gourds for Mark’s Melon Patch during the fall season, something she loved doing so much. Everyone loved her beautiful work, which she signed ‘WoolyBee’. Glenda was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and served the church as Head of the Altar Guild for many years.

Mrs. Franklin is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy; son, Keith Franklin; nephew, Dave Sconyers; and brother-in-law, Cecil Collins. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention her beloved furbaby, Pumpkin, who was with her for the past 16 years until Pumpkin’s death in 2025.

Survivors include her son, Mark (Nancy) Franklin; grandchildren, Matthew Franklin (Shannon), Meagan Edwards (Josh) and Caden Bendzen; four great-grandchildren, Gatlin Franklin, Hattie Franklin, Olivia Edwards and Lucas Edwards; sisters, Ann Sconyers (David), Sharon Wilson (Donny) and Debbie Collins; sister-in-law, Louise Veal (Edward) of Deep Step, GA.

In lieu of flowers, Glenda requested that donations be made to either St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
