Mrs. Barbara F. Rowland, 67, of Kite, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness. A memorial service was held Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m. in the chapel at Chapman Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Akins officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were Sandra Edenfield, Jana Nunn, Mike Cowart, Sandy Cowart, Michael Cowart, Pam Williams Claxton, Gary Williams, Frances Chance, Christy Whittenburg and Jessica Williams.

Mrs. Rowland was born August 11, 1956, in St. Petersburg, FL, to the late Clarence Fleming and Claudia Mae Sanders. Barbara was the operator of B’s Diner from 1995 – 1999. She was the co-owner of Rowland’s Service Station for 20 plus years. Barbara enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains. She liked to play cards, spending time at the Moose Club, going to the lake and camping. Barbara attended Oaky Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Rowland is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Lee Rowland; sisters, Brenda Henry and Helen Lallemand; brother, Ronnie Stephens; and great-grandson, Baylor Colt Moore.

Mrs. Rowland is survived by her daughter, April Purvis (Craig) of Kite; grandchildren, Savannah Bush of Swainsboro, Donald Williford of Kite and Dakota Kersey of Florida; 11 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Ashley King (CJ) and Brittany Wren (Wesley); special sister, Helen Bell (Tommy) of Kite; sisters, Sabrina Thomas (Travis) of Kite, Brenda Bolen (James) of Spring City, TN, Lisa Fleming of Tenmile, TN and Jackie Smith of Spring City, TN; brothers, John Fleming of Kite and Jim Lallemand of Arizona; step-mother, Louise McDonald of Spring City, TN; brother-in-law, Mike (Ellen) Rowland of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
