Sgt. Billy Ricks, Sr., age 67, transitioned from this place called home to eternity on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, February 7, at 2 p.m. at St. Philip Missionary Baptist Church. Billy fought like a soldier through all his sickness until his course was finished.
Billy was born May 20, 1958, in Swainsboro, to the late Bobby Ricks Sr. and Marjorie Mozell Mincey Ricks. He graduated from Swainsboro High School where he played football and was a dynamic player. After graduation, Billy joined the US Army and rose to rank of Sergeant. He loved to fish and every chance he got, he would be somewhere with a pole in the water. Sgt. Ricks is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine Williams Ricks; son, Zachery; and four brothers.
Sgt. Ricks leaves to cherish his memories with his children, Tawana Ricks, Billy Ricks Jr., Randal Ricks, Christopher (Shonda) Kirkland, Nichole Godfrey, Bridgett Triplett, Antoinette (Nathaniel) Fenner, Antquion Silas, Mario Handsome, Sondra Wilcher, Corenthius Wilcher and Jarvis Wilcher; five sisters; three brothers; and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
