Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mr. Bobby Gene Amerson, Sr., age 79, of Adrian, on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel with Corbin Wiggins officiating. Interment followed in the Kite City Cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at Tomlinson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Rodney Amerson, Mark Snellgrove, Justin Riner, Alan Amerson, Graham Lawson, Landon Amerson, Shawn Riner and Joel Mimbs.

Mr. Amerson was born August 12, 1944, in Swainsboro, to the late Lavousia and Louise Chalker Amerson. He was a retired mechanic. Bobby Gene loved cooking hogs and Brunswick stew and especially loved sharing with friends and family. He was a master mechanic who could build or fix anything with an engine. In addition to his parents, Mr. Amerson is preceded in death by his brother, Doyle Amerson.

Mr. Amerson is survived by his daughter, Angela “Sister Boots” Young (Alan) of Swainsboro; sons, Bobby Gene “Petey” Amerson, Jr. (Paula) of Swainsboro and Stan “Stump” Amerson of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Amber Hodges (Chris), Mallory Carlyle (Terrance), Carolyn Screws (Dusty), Kaelyn Meadows (Austin), Danielle Herring (Chris), Trey Amerson (Shyann) and Skylar Tran; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Lavonn Amerson (Loree) of Wrightsville; and extended family.

Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
