The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Franklin Memorial Library Monday morning, September 15, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 50 in attendance. Beta Sigma Phi provided a great breakfast of sausage biscuits, cut up fruit and sweets. Shari Watt furnished the orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, apple juice and coffee. Chair Johnny introduced Tori Branum who is running for Congress in Georgia’s 12th District. Tori said that she is a proud Georgian who served in the U.S. Marine Corps, where she served as a radio operator during her first enlistment, and a marksmanship instructor in her second enlistment. After her active duty in the U.S. Marines, Tori remained in the Middle Georgia area. She founded Middle Georgia Female Firearms Training where she had the honor of training over 13,000 women in the community and across the country. After Tori answered questions from veterans, Veteran Scotty Nasworthy spoke about the upcoming “Wreaths Across America” project and that they still have 60 cemeteries to see if any veterans are buried there out of 180 cemeteries in Emanuel County. WAA day is December 13, 2025. Also, don’t forget that the Wounded Warriors 14th Annual Sportsman’s Banquet and Auction will be held Thursday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m. at Beaver Creek Plantation, 3698 Hwy 80 East, Twin City.
