Brenda Kozlowski Stapleton, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Savannah. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, January 24, at 11 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel in Savannah.
Brenda was born August 19, 1947, in Swainsboro, to the late Alvie Cecil “Smiley” Stapleton and Edna Mae “Smokey” Scarboro Holmes. A graduate of Groves High School, she began her career in healthcare, working with several local doctors, and later demonstrated her leadership as a manager at Chatham Steel. Brenda eventually became a Customer Service Manager with AirTran, where she dedicated her talents until her retirement.
Brenda’s life was marked by a passion for speed and competition, evident in her former hobby as a drag car racer and her enjoyment of bowling, which she embraced as a member of a league. In her quieter moments, she could be found immersed in a book or watching her favorite shows on the ID Channel. Brenda was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Stapleton is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Gary E. Stapleton.
Mrs. Stapleton is survived by her sons, Robert Kozlowski, Sr. and wife Lori and Craig Kozlowski and wife Genia; daughter, Vicki Daniels; sisters, Wanda Diaz and husband Luis and Vicki Segura; cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Megan, Robert Jr. “RJ”, Lilli, Sophia and Joshua; great-granddaughter, Lillian; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice Savannah.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel.
