The Brier Creek Militia traveled to Revolutionary War Fort Morris “Come and Take It” event on Saturday, November 22, at 10 a.m. The event was the 247th Anniversary Commemoration of the Siege of Fort Morris that happened on November 25, 1778, when the British demanded surrender to which the Patriots defiantly replied, “Come and take It”. The Militia group is made up of members of the Brier Creek Chapter and the Wiregrass Chapter. After the presentation of the colors, the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance, a program was presented of the 15 Historic Flags. After the speakers, the wreath presentations were held, followed by the three-round Flintlock volley Salute, then taps was played. There were over 50 wreaths presented. Those attending were Steve Burke, Dess Smith and Don Bazemore. While there, Commander Burke inducted a new member of the Skunk Brigade, SAR member Kholson Lee Bull, National Number 235685 of the Robert Forsyth Chapter.
