The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Library Monday morning, November 17, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 44 in attendance. The Beta Sigma Phi provided breakfast to the Veterans consisting of assorted donuts and pastries, and Shari Watt furnished two egg and sausage casseroles, orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, apple juice and coffee. Chair Johnny asked City Councilman and Veteran Julian Sconyers to introduce the speaker, Lyn Brinson. Brinson presented a check from the Rotary Club for the Wreaths Across America project and then talked about Emanuel Medical Center. She spoke about the upgrades to the Brinson also talked about the Karr Theatre and what has happened the last 10 years that it has taken to open the theatre back up. Chair Johnny then talked about the upcoming day to place the U.S. Flags on each veteran’s grave in the Swainsboro City Cemetery on November 28 so that they will know where to place the Wreaths on Saturday, December 13.
