The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Franklin Memorial Library Mon-day morning, June 16, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 43 in attendance. Beta Sigma Phi provided a great breakfast consisting of sausage biscuits, sweets and orange slices and Shari furnished orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, apple juice and coffee. Veteran David Morgan then introduced Kaitlyn Cappe, Regional Genealogy and Local His-tory Coordinator at the Statesboro Regional Public Library. She is very passionate about family history and especially military family history. Kaitlyn talked about the different books that are available in the Genealogy Department and how to gain access to Ancestry.com, family search.org and Fold 3. New veteran, Marcus McGhee, served in the U.S. Army from January 31, 2001, to January 31, 2010. He served in the 1st, 27th Infantry Division during Enduring Freedom and also served in Germany and Hawaii/Schofield Barracks. The Veterans at the Library made two donations from the profits of the Veterans Cup Golf Tournament: $500 to Wounded Warriors project received by Veteran Terry Reynolds as a small token to support the Emanuel County Wounded Warriors events and $1,500 to Franklin Memorial Library Director Windy Ward and Shari Watt for their outstanding support of the Veterans at the Library each and every Monday morning during the year to be used for something that the library needs, but is not funded by the Statesboro Library.
