The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting Tuesday night, August 5, at the Rustic Grille at 6:30 p.m. With President Paul Cerpovicz presiding, they had 12 in attendance including two guests, Karolina Cerpovicz and Joelle Romanchik-Cerpovicz. David Gribbin won the strawberry cake donated by Dess Smith III and Bobbie Daughtry won the Domino’s pizza. Tuesday was National Oyster Day, National Underwear Day, and National Work-Like-A-Dog Day, but President Paul reached back two days to National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day and gave away two batches of cookies, won by Tim Goodman and Joelle Romanchik-Cerpovicz. President Paul reported on the Touch-A-Truck event at the Boneyard on August 2 from 10 a.m. until noon. They cooked and gave out over 200 bags of popcorn and over 50 bags of school supplies, along with some additional loose school supplies. They also partnered with Franklin Memorial Library and the local Veterans group to fund additional bags of school supplies given out during this event. President Paul also talked about the status of the Little Free Library (LFL) project, the locations of the current LFL’s and the proposed location of the three remaining LFL’s. This summer, Kiwanis members gave school supplies and a donation to Ronnie Shuemake for his ‘Future Generation Youth Book Bag Drive’. Kiwanis also gave financial support to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Southeastern Technical College, the Seamless Summer program and the Emanuel County 4-H Club.
