SHS Seniors TJ Curry and LaMarqus Webb signed letters of intent to play college football on Friday, April 19. Curry will head west to MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas, and Webb will play for LaGrange College in West Georgia.

These two young men are part of a record-setting class for Swainsboro athletics. As members of the football team, their class won 11 playoff games throughout their four years, which is the most for any class in SHS history. This includes making it to the semifinals and two back-to-back state championship games.

Head coach Scott Roberts says both have truly left their mark at SHS. Webb stated, “I overcame a lot of adversity dealing with injuries but really stepped up the last two years.” Roberts adds, “Curry is an outstanding kid on and off the field, and we are super excited about this opportunity.”

A signing ceremony was held in the auditorium. Joining Webb were his maternal grandmother, Flora Waters, his aunt, Samantha Samples, and his stepmother, Kajuanna Snell. Curry was joined by his mother, Lashonda Gardner, and his father, Larry Sherrod. SHS Administrators Brandon Andrews, Lindsey Sconyers, Gray Mendieta, and many extended family members, teachers, teammates, classmates, former classmates, and Tiger athletic supporters were in attendance. Assistant coaches Chase Giddens, Michael Singletary, Dwight Smith, Pippin Davis, Morgan Jersey, Ashley Hooks, and David Ray were also present to support their former players.
