Mrs. Danita Lynn Johnson, 52, of Garfield, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025, at her resi-dence. Graveside services were held Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at the Hebron Primitive Bap-tist Church with Rev. Tom Tidwell officiating.

Danita was born September 3, 1972, in Sweet Home, Oregon, to the late John Odas “Odell” and Irene P. Fortner. She was the dietician for Twin View Health and Rehab until her passing. Danita had attended Johns Creek Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her love of life and her compassion towards her friends, family, and the many furry friends who she rescued over the years. Danita was known for always taking care of stray or wounded cats in the Gar-field area. She adored nature and loved planting and tending to her garden. Danita had a deep devotion to all animals – if someone or some pet was in need of help, she was always there. But most of all, she loved her daughter, Amy, spending time and bonding over new and old hobbies like jewelry making. Ms. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Daniel Kevin Fortner.

Ms. Johnson is survived by daughter, Amy Johnson, of Garfield; siblings, Johnny Fortner, Julie F. Bradley and Darlene Fortner, all of Sylva, NC and Timothy Fortner of Mountain Rest, SC; companion, Bobby Daw of Garfield; several nieces and nephews; and former husband, Richard Johnson of Garfield.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
