The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting Monday morning, October 13, at 9 a.m. at the library. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 46 in attendance. The Veterans Bucket money provided a great breakfast of donuts, pastries, fresh cut-up bananas and muffins. Shari Watt furnished the orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, apple juice and coffee. Shari introduced OnDraya LaNette Davis, who presented her CPR program on the procedures of CPR. Veteran Bob Ladoczdy, Jr. then held the drawing for the AR rifle and case that he donated to the Veterans so they could raise money for the bucket all-purpose money. Bob got Shari to draw the winning ticket, and the winner was Veteran Jimmy “Sleepy” Overstreet. Chair Johnny and Willie Bush then talked about the new Veteran Wall that we will be erecting at the “Veterans and 1st Responder’s Memorial Park soon. Veterans are looking for 1,000 bricks to be purchased by the citizens of Emanuel County for their veterans to have a brick “on the wall”. Chair Johnny then spoke about the upcoming “Wreaths Across America” project and they still have 60 cemeteries to see if any veterans are buried there out of 180 cemeteries in Emanuel County. WAA day is December 13, 2025. Also, Chair Johnny spoke about the “Wounded Warriors 14th Annual Sportsman’s Banquet and Auction” that will be held October 16, at 5:30 p.m. at Beaver Creek Plantation, 3698 Hwy 80 East, Twin City.
