DEA Middle School Eagles roll past Thomas Jefferson Academy

David Emanuel Academy Middle School Eagles won big over Thomas Jefferson Academy 17-2 on Tuesday, August 13. The Eagles jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Kaley Flowers hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, Evie Moore singled, scoring one run, and a steal of home scored one run. The Eagles scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. Rayleigh Faircloth tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Marlee Johnson singled, scoring one run, Mary Bess Fields doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Lara McNure tripled, scoring two runs. The Eagles scored five runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Rayleigh tripled, scoring one run, Loralee Scarboro grounded out, scoring one run, Carrie Johnson singled, scoring one run, and a dropped third strike scored two runs. Rayleigh earned the win for the Eagles. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking one. #10 took the loss for Thomas Jefferson Academy. The starter went two innings, giving up 12 runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking two. Kaley appeared in relief for David Emanuel Academy MS Eagles. David Emanuel Academy MS Eagles collected 11 hits in the game. Kaley provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led David Emanuel Academy MS Eagles with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Marlee and Rayleigh each collected two hits for DEA. Milly Farmer led the Eagles with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Layla Clark stole two bases. David Emanuel Academy MS Eagles were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Evie had the most chances in the field with six. #0 led Thomas Jefferson Academy with one run batted in. #10 led Thomas Jefferson Academy with one hit in one at bat.
