Deacon George Reese, age 72, of Garfield, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025 at his home. A homegoing celebration was held Saturday, September 20 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Eulogist Pastor Virgil Badie officiating.

Deacon Reese was born in Swainsboro on April 27, 1953 to the late Mr. Charlie Reese, Sr. and Mrs. Luartist Reese. He was raised in Garfield and attended Emanuel County Institute. He served in the Army and was later employed by Georgia Power and retired after many years of service. He became an entrepreneur and started Reese Pine Straw and Landscaping in 1987. He has left a family business legacy that is still going strong today. Mr. Reese was a member of Mission Outreach Baptist Church in Statesboro under Pastor Virgil Badie, where he served as a deacon. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by him. He never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mrs. Gwendolyn Reese; brother, James Reese (Mabel); and sister, Bessie cooper (Leroy).

Deacon Reese is survived by his daughters, Anitatess Reese-Givens (Tommy) and Marie Johnson of Swainsboro, Aprille Reese of Garfield, India James (Rashawn) and Daziah Kelly (James) of Statesboro; sons, Levon Mincey Marion (Tracye), Leon Mincey Marion and George Leviticus Reese of Twin City, Vannie Lee Williams of Swainsboro; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
