Mrs. Deborah “Debbie” Wilson Johnson, age 66, of Twin City, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 18, at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Jonathan Shepard officiating, assisted by Reverend Josh Black. Family will receive friends Friday, October 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be James Parker, M.J. Williams, Bucky Brown, Boyd English, Jonathon Clements and Natavus Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be the E.C.I. Class of 1977.

Debbie was born July 20, 1959, in Swainsboro, to the late Edwin Larry Wilson and Alma Louise Wilson. She was a proud graduate of Emanuel County Institute. Debbie went on to dedicate 30 years of her life to serving the State of Georgia in various capacities. Throughout her career, she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues, who often described her as a dedicated, hardworking, and meticulous employee who took great pride in everything she did. Outside of Debbie’s professional life, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She poured her heart into her family, always offering love, support, and encouragement in every way she could. Debbie’s family was the center of her world, and she found joy in every moment spent with them.

Debbie was also a devout Christian whose faith guided every aspect of her life. Deeply involved in her church and community, she lived to share the gospel with others and had a special gift for finding the silver lining in any situation. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering belief in God touched countless lives. Even while facing cancer for 12 years, Debbie’s faith never wavered. She remained steadfast and strong, serving as an inspiration to all who knew her. Debbie will be remembered as a woman of faith, grace, and strength — the true epitome of a Christian woman — whose love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of many. Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Glen Johnson; grandchildren, Braxton Oliver, Greyson Oliver and Aspen Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, Asa Johnson (Jessica) of Twin City; daughter, Angel Oliver (Jeremy) of Twin City; grandchildren, Salena Hamrick, Ashton Johnson, Chloe Oliver, Cason Johnson and Bailey Grace Oliver; sister, Sharon Wilson Sammons; nephews, Chip Morgan (Mamrie), Schuyler Johnson (Jaycee) and Tiernan Johnson (Lexi); brother-in-law, Russell Johnson (Leslie); and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages donations be made to: Braxton Oliver Scholarship Foundation located at any Durden Banking Company location.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
