The Wiregrass Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution held its monthly meeting at McKinney Pond Restaurant Thursday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m. With President Steve Burke presiding, they had 24 in attendance including guests. President Steve opened the meeting with a welcome and asked Chaplain Emory Fennell to open with a prayer, followed by the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the SAR. They enjoyed a great buffet meal of shrimp, corn dodgers, french fries and all the trimmings. President Steve then called on Dess Smith to introduce the speaker, John Derden. John is a member of the Wiregrass Chapter in Swainsboro. He spoke about “Georgia Tour of Lafayette, 1825”. President Steve then called on Compatriot Dess for a presentation. Dess presented the Sgt-at-Arms Watson Mosley with two Chapter Flag Streamers, one for the event at Fort Morris and the other for the event at St. Simons Island, Frederica Naval Battle, both for presenting the Chapter wreath at the events honoring the Patriot Soldiers. The next meeting will be on July 10, at 6:30 p.m. at McKinney Pond.
