Mr. Donald Leon Canady, Sr., age 85, of Commerce, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. Funeral service was held Saturday, August 10, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Vaughn Howington, Jr. officiating. Interment followed at Jackson Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Canady was born in Metter to the late Johnnie Leon and Mary Lillian Sconyers Canady. He was a retired principal, a member of the Commerce First Methodist Church, and a US Army veteran. Donald was a big Georgia Bulldogs fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Canady is preceded in death by his sister, Jane Canady Lamb.

Mr. Canady is survived by his wife, Marie Bowen Canady of Commerce; children, Lee Canady, Jr. (Patty) of Swainsboro, Melissa Canady of Swainsboro, Darlene McConnell (Lewis) of Commerce, Boyd Chandler, Jr. of Jefferson and Greg Chandler (Lisa) of Maysville; four grandchildren, Ben Canady (Michaela), Zack Canady (Katie), Ryan McConnell and Dr. Brittany Lord (Austin); and great-grandson, David Lord.

Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce was in charge of arrangements.
