The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting Tuesday night, July 15, at the Rustic Grill at 6:30 p.m. With President Paul Cerpovicz presiding, they had 15 in attendance including four guests, Oskar Cerpovicz, Karolina Cerpovicz, Joelle Romanchik-Cerpovicz and Dr. Hal Hall. The Club fondly remembers Judge Mary Ellen Smith, a super Kiwanian, who passed away on July 8, 2025. Deana Patrick won the lemon pound cake and a jar of Cerpovicz honey donated by President Paul and Karolina Cerpovicz won the Domino’s. Bobbie Daughtry introduced Dr. Hal Hall as the speaker for the evening. Dr. Hall is currently a dentist at Artistic Smile in Dublin and was previously a dentist in Swainsboro. He gave an overview of five life-changing events that transpired over the last 20+ years. Starting over twenty years ago with a truck accident which left him paralyzed, leading to four years of rehabilitation and the loss of all of his money and material possessions, he moved back to Swainsboro to take care of his parents. Dr. Hall lost both his parents and then developed intestinal tract problems, then fell off a roof a couple years ago while installing a tin roof. He spoke to the power of God’s grace that sustained him during those rough times. President Paul reported on the Touch-A-Truck event in the downtown area on August 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Kiwanis will be making popcorn for the participants. They will also help fund bags of school supplies along with the Franklin Memorial Library and our local Veterans group. They will set up around 9 a.m. to get a head start on the participants. Be there if you can help!
