The Swainsboro Rotary Club met Monday, December 1, at the Rustic Grill. The meeting was called to order by Zack Proctor, and the club recited the pledge and 4-way test after the invocation. Dr. Shannon Lawrence was in charge of the program and gave a presentation about the Young Farmers program in Emanuel and also some updates on the timber industry. He introduced Savannah Tanner, County Extension Agent, and she gave an update on the farming situation for the county. She discussed the crops that had been harvested and the production amounts by some of the local farmers. Members were informed that Emanuel County will host a farm tour in the summer that will highlight some of the farming operations in the area. The club also discussed the upcoming Christmas for Kids program that they have every year, where the club purchases gifts for several families from each school. Kristin Hall is in charge of this and will give the club an update in the next week or two. Meeting was adjourned.
