The third Block Party for the Arts hosted by Emanuel Arts Council was held Thursday, April 10, on the 100 block of North Green Street. Artwork by students from Emanuel County Institute, Swainsboro High School, and East Georgia State College was displayed on metal boards on the street. Live music was provided by Ashley Riner, Lige Moore, and Alan Brasher. A Sidewalk Chalk Contest was also held for children attending the event. Everyone was treated to free pizza and soft drinks.
Art by students was judged by a group of local artists and educators. First place winners received $75 each; second place, $50; and third place, $25.
ECI: First place, Makaileigh Handsom; second place, Samadi Salgado; and third place, Jacorra Turner.
SHS: First place, Emma Blanford; second place, Molly Bird; and third place, Alaina McDaniel.
EGSC: First place, Zoe Carter; second place, Jaime Ferry; and third place, Desiree Smith.
Best in Show, which was a $100 prize, was awarded to Zoe Carter.
Winners of the Sidewalk Chalk Contest were Virginia Palumbo, first place, $60; Milani Smart, second place, $40; and Robert Palumbo, third place, $20.
