A race for District 1 of Swainsboro city council will mark the “first-ever” election to be held in the impressive new Davis-Thompson Building on Moring Street. The June 17, 2025 election day ballot features a former city council member, Sue Bragg and a political newcomer, Lafonda Hackett Kelly both vying for the right to represent the eastern-most district of Swainsboro. Early voting is already taking place and will continue through Friday June 13, 2025. Also on the ballot are primary races for the Georgia State Public Service Commission District 2: Alicia Johnson (D), Tim Echols (R), Lee Muns (R) and for the Georgia State Public Service Commission District 3: Daniel Blackman (D), Peter Hubbard(D), Robert Jones(D), Keisha Sean Waites (D),and Fitz Johnson (R). The June 17, 2025 election marks the beginning of a busy political season for the county with three city council seats and the office of Mayor of Swainsboro all up for grabs as well as other municipal elections in Twin City and Stillmore. Qualifying for all these elections will run from August 18 through August 22.
