Elijah Carswell, age 75, left this world on Monday, February 17, 2025, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Midville.
Elijah was born December 29, 1949, in Emanuel County, the seventh child out of 18, to the late Gertrude and Eddie Lee Carswell, Sr. As a young man, he moved to Philadelphia and took up a trade of construction work. After many years, Elijah moved back to Emanuel County and worked at Thermo King, Swainsboro Gas and continued to work as a construction worker and brick mason. Mr. Carswell is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ruth Carswell; and siblings.
Mr. Carswell leaves to cherish his memories with his sons, Elijah Carswell, Jr., Juane Brown (Takayla), Dante Brown, Curtis Kirkland; daughter, Toinette Brown; step-kids, Tiera Foster and Martez Brown; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nine siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
