Mrs. Emma Lanora Johnson, age 80, of Swainsboro, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital in Savannah. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 8, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Morris Brantley officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to services. Interment will follow in Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Carl Wheeler, Todd Hooks, Wayne Coleman, Jonathan Riner, Gage Coleman and William (Lil Bill) Coleman.

Emma was born April 21, 1945, in Mt. Vernon, to the late Larkie Love and Annie Mae Hudson. She worked at Swainsboro Sportswear, later Ithaca, until her retirement. Emma enjoyed tending to her flowers and bird watching. She will be remembered for her caring spirit and love, anyway that she could help someone she would do it, just a cup of a coffee or even a warm meal, no matter what she was always there. Emma enjoyed cooking and cleaning, and she made sure her freezer was always full. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lynn Coleman; stepdaughter, Cindy Johnson; and sister, Louise Little.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Adolphus “Doc” Johnson of Swainsboro; sons, David Wheeler of Swainsboro and Carl Wheeler (Sandy) of Dellwood; stepdaughters, Kim Schrader (David) of Swainsboro and Shannon Dell Johnson of Ridgeway, IL; stepson, Shane Johnson (Jerica) of Byron; sisters, Betty Edenfield, Linda Coleman (Roy Morris), Rebecca Hopkins (Ricky) and Martha Robinson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
