Evelyn Lois Tims, 82

Evelyn Lois Tims, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her close family on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, August 17, at 2 p.m. at St. Philip Baptist Church with Rev. James E. Love officiating.

Evelyn was born September 24, 1942, in Columbia, Louisiana, to the late Etta C. Martin and Monard Reed. She graduated from Union Central High School in 1960, then attended Grambling College. Evelyn met her husband, Elson Tims, Jr. while attending college and they created a life together in Swainsboro in 1967. From this union, a son and daughter were born, Elson Tims, III and Zandraetta Tims Cook. Evelyn was employed as a secretary at Swainsboro High School from 1967 to 1994. Ms. Tims is preceded in death by her parents; and former husband.

Ms. Tims is survived by her children, Elson Tims, III and Zandraetta Tims Cook (Marshall); grandchildren, Tyshanana Brown, Elson Malik Wilson, Raven Cook and Riha Cook; great-grandchildren, Ja’Kailey Ridgell, Yuri Scott, Essence Wilson and Elson Ma’khii Wilson; and a host of coursins, friends and neighbors in Louisiana, TX and Hearthside Club in Tucker.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
