There are 22 Book Characters raising money for Emanuel County Ferst Readers. We have been using social media to do online voting/donations. Each vote costs $4 which is what will furnish a book to children 0 to 5 years old who live in Emanuel County. The books get mailed to the homes along with an activity page for parents to teach their child literacy and vocabulary skills. This “come in mail” program gets children excited about books and supports the love of reading.
There are children in Emanuel County who do not have age appropriate books in the home and many who do not attend preschool. This is a setback for those little ones when they start kindergarten. Family Connection wants to play a part in preventing that by getting children enrolled in Ferst Readers and raising the money for this program that is free to the families.
