First inning spurt leads Middle School Eagles past Bulloch Academy

David Emanuel Academy Middle School Eagles defeated Bulloch Academy 13-4 on Wednesday, September 18, thanks in part to seven runs in the first inning. Evie Moore drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Sophie Young tripled, scoring two runs, Layla Clark singled, scoring one run, and Blakely Brinson grounded out, scoring one run. The Eagles added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Lara McNure grounded out, and Bulloch Academy committed an error, each scoring one run. Rayleigh Faircloth earned the win for DEA. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over four and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking none. Mary Bess Fields appeared in relief for the Eagles. Layla, Carrie Johnson, Sophie, Loralee Scarboro, and Lara each collected one hit for the Eagles. Carrie, Sophie, and Lara each drove in two runs for DEA. The Eagles had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Rayleigh, Evie, and Mary Bess led the team with two free passes each. The Eagles stole seven bases in the game. They were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Evie made the most plays with eight.
