Mr. George R. Scott 84, of the Ollifftown, passed away peacefully June 6, 2024, at his residence, with his loving family at his bedside. Funeral service was held, Sunday June 9, at 2:30 p.m. at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Sam Bowen, Craig Lanier and Tommy Rountree officiating. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Wood Funeral Home in Metter.

Pallbearers were Randy Olliff, Jonathan Olliff, Jacob Scott, Jordy Scott, Justin Bell, Alex McGowan and Bret McGowan.

George was born October 23, 1939, in Twin City, to the late Mr. Luther Green and Mrs. Bessie Juanita Davis Scott. He attended Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church with his parents as a child and was a faithful member of Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church until his health began to fail. George’s love for his Lord and Savior was evident in all of his endeavors. He was a self-employed truck driver for over thirty years. George dearly loved his family and his church family. Mr. Scott is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Scott Olliff; four sisters; and two brothers.

Mr. Scott is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Carole Edwards Scott; four sons, Joey (Libby) Scott, Ashley (Robin) Scott, Paul (Lindsey) Scott and David (Alexandra) Sapp; daughter, Trixie (Randy) McGowan; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Wood Funeral Home of Metter was in charge of arrangements.
