The Georgia Department of Education and Governor’s Office of Student Achievement proudly recognized Emanuel County Institute and Swainsboro High School for remarkable student growth achievements. On Tuesday, February 25, State School Superintendent Richard Woods visited the Emanuel County Board of Education to celebrate their outstanding accomplishments. This event celebrated the accomplishments of dedicated educators who have successfully enhanced literacy and mathematics skills among students.

Both Emanuel County Institute and Swainsboro High School were celebrated with the Math Leader Banner, a recognition of their high school students demonstrating impressive improvements, with an increased percentage scoring Proficient or Above on the 2023-2024 Georgia Milestones Assessment (GMAS), underscoring the schools’ commitment to academic excellence.

Emanuel County Institute’s middle school received the Literacy Leader Banner for its sixth-grade students, who made significant progress in increasing the number of students reading at or above grade level, reflecting a strong commitment to literacy development.

Joining Superintendent Woods and 12th District Representative of the State Board of Education Matt Donaldson for this celebration were teacher representatives and administrators from each school, along with Superintendent Dr. Denise Warnock and Assistant Superintendent Jansen Ware.

“Student growth and achievement stand at the forefront of our district’s mission. This recognition demonstrates our teachers’ commitment to meeting our students where they are and taking them to their next level,” commented Dr. Warnock.
