by MELISSA KIRBY, DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

As the winter weather creeps in and the holiday season draws near, Downtown Swainsboro eagerly anticipates a visit from Santa on December 7 during our annual Christmas Parade. The community comes together to put on a beautiful lighted Christmas Parade each year that draws people from nearby communities to our beautiful downtown. After the parade, Santa sits down to hear the requests for the children who are present. Parents can grab a quick photo of their children with Santa to cherish forever.

Some of the newest additions to the Christmas festivities this year will be a live Nativity scene by Dellwood Baptist Church, food trucks, arts & crafts vendors, and performances by Allstar Dance Academy and the Dellwood Praise & Worship band. Don’t forget to drop by the Karrh Theater where Citizens Bank will be set up giving free train rides to all the kids. Come join us in Downtown Swainsboro for a bite to eat or some early Christmas shopping starting at 4 p.m. on the Boneyard before the parade begins at 5:30 p.m.

If you would like to register a float in the Christmas Parade, visit the City of Swainsboro website, Facebook page or contact me at 478-237-7025. The Downtown Development Authority of Swainsboro board members and staff look forward to seeing you on December 7 from 4 p.m. -8:30 p.m. in Downtown Swainsboro.
