Mrs. Glenda Douglas Avery, age 78, of Swainsboro, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 28, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Cail Pressey officiating. Interment followed in Sardis Cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers were Michael Douglas, Del Brown, Allen McDaniel, Bo Larisey, Matt Braswell and Mark Canady.

Glenda was born December 25, 1946, in Swainsboro, to the late Spencer A. Douglas and Auline Hooks Woods. She was employed for many years with the City of Swainsboro Water Department. Glenda enjoyed family history, fishing, crafts and crocheting. She was a long-time member of Hawhammock Baptist Church. Mrs. Avery is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Avery; sister, Margie Thigpen; nephew, Mike Thigpen; and special friend, Don Rountree.

Mrs. Avery is survived by several cousins and friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
