Mr. James Eddie “J.E.” Derriso, age 85, of Swainsboro, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Emanuel Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 14, at 2 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church with Reverend Chad Kennison and Reverend Joe Bedgood officiating. Interment followed at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends Saturday, September 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Noah Derriso, Gannon Williams, Matt Black, Mickey Flanders, Steve Waters, Donnie Alexander, and Nick Kapp. Honorary pallbearers were James Owens, Carroll Garner, and Gage Howell.

James was born July 16, 1940, in Covena, to the late George Cleve Derriso and Sadie Adele Moore Derriso. Mr. Derriso is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Jean Clifton Derriso; daughter, Tammy Stetson; grandson, Brad Stetson; sisters, Annie Mae Terry, Betty O’Conner and Cornelia Shultz; brothers, George Derriso and David Derriso.

Mr. Derriso is survived by his sons, Johnny Edward Wood, Sr. of Swainsboro, James Tony Derriso (Connie) of Forsyth, Charles Dallas Derriso (Sandy) of Swainsboro and William Dale Derriso (Becky) of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Kimberly Wood, Kasey Wood, Johnny Wood, Jr., Channa Tyson, Noah Derriso, Tiffany Black (Matt), Ana Rose Derriso, Gannon Williams (Jordan), Jamie Kapp (Nick), Amber Derriso, Andy Stetson (Jill); 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Odom of Dublin; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
