James Edward Kangeter, 87

James Edward Kangeter, age 87, of Metter, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024. Graveside service was held Tuesday, June 25, at 11 a.m. in Lake Cemetery with Elder Mike Newman officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Wedincamp, Joshua Kangeter, Blake Kangeter and Rusty Kangeter.

James was born in Candler County and lived in the Metter area all of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. James attended Pulaski Baptist Church in years past. He retired from Southern States, formerly Goldkist, in Metter where he worked as an assistant manager. James also worked in HVAC and Electrical in the Metter area for many years. From 2000 until 2016, he delivered the Metter Advertiser to patrons in the community. James loved to fish and loved his Metter Advertiser newspaper. Mr. Kangeter is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Virginia Kangeter; and daughter, Cindy Joy Kangeter.

Surviving is his son, Jimmy Kangeter (Mary Helen) of Garfield; daughter, Tina Kangeter (Jason) Austin of Marietta; grandchildren, Joshua Kangeter (Holley), Jessica Brown (Casey), Jody Kangeter, Breana Kangeter, Blake Kangeter, Olivia Austin and Trey Austin; great-grandchildren, Lanie, AJ, Brogan, Bailey and Colt; sister; Nancy Kangeter Cook of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews; and his dachshund, Matt.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter was in charge of arrangements.
