Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Jermie C. Allen, Jr., age 84, of Millen, on July 9, 2024, at his home. Memorial services will be conducted Friday July 19, at 2 p.m. at Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors, Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Pastor Butch Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Millen.

Jermie was born November 2, 1939, in Millen, to Mr. Jermie C. and Merriam Williams Allen, Sr. After graduating Swainsboro High School, Jermie went on to further his education in a trade school in Americus. He was an aircraft mechanic for Northwest Airlines, which is now Delta, for many years. Jermie held both a multi-engine and a rotor craft pilots’ license. He loved working with and on his tractor and also enjoyed gardening. Jermie was a member of CSA, (Confederate States of America), and always had an interest and love for history. He could read and retain a vast amount of information and was quite the historian. Jermie was a member of the Deep Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth Williams Allen; and brother, James Kenneth Allen.

Survivors include his son, John C. Allen of Millen; sister, Ann Allen Morgan of Peachtree City; brother, Benjamin Leary Allen (Sandra) of Millen; grandchildren, John Carlton Allen, Jr., Jeremy Carlton Allen, Justin Caleb Allen and Chris Rickerson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
