Mr. Johnny D. Williams, age 84, of Swainsboro, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Wellstar in Augusta. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 27, at 3 p.m. at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Reverend Greg Ely officiating, assisted by Reverend Jim Harrell. Interment followed at Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum. Family received friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. prior to service.

Pallbearers were Dock Claxton, Dale Ogletree, Bronson Bragdon, Tim Hood, Freddie Gillis and Chris Biggers. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Warnock, Fred Braswell, Mike Tapley, Irvin Cox, Mickey Flanders, Jerry Lawson, Jimmy Cowart and Wayne Rountree.

Johnny was born January 8, 1941, in Swainsboro, to the late Isma Williams and Eudelle Abney Williams. He was in the United States Army for 4 years and retired from USPS after 39 years of service. Johnny graduated from Emanuel County Junior College with an associate’s degree. He loved all sports, especially football, and kept up with high school, college and NFL (have seen him with one on radio and one of TV at same time, many times). Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Linda Ogletree and Barbara Mosley.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce G. Williams of Swainsboro; son, Darrell Williams (Tracy) of Swainsboro; daughter, Stacie Avery (Donald) of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Meagan Proctor, Josh Williams (Caitlin), Austin Proctor (Meryl), Caleb Avery and Jacob Avery; great-grandchildren, Audriana Williams, Holli Schoen, Baby Girl Proctor and Rig Proctor; family pet, Duke; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
