Jonathan “John” David Waters, 50

Mr. Jonathan “John” David Waters, age 50, passed Sunday, July 13, 2025, away at his residence in Swainsboro. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 16, at 3 p.m. at the Swainsboro First Church of the Nazarene in Swainsboro with Rev. Tim Nary officiating. Interment followed at Eastbrook Cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to the service.

John was born July 23, 1974, in Metter. He graduated from Metter High School where he was the President of the Science Club. John was awarded many degrees in his time, including a Doctor of Divinity, a Master of Science and Psychology from Cambridge University, and had obtained his certification as a Peer Specialist and Forensic Peer Mentor in Georgia. Mr. Waters is preceded in death by his father, Johnny W. Waters; stepfather, Hugh Peterson Martin; grandparents, J.D. and Louise Waters; and J.D. and Bertha Downs Beckworth.

Mr. Waters is survived by his mother, Margie Martin of Swainsboro; sister, Tammy S. Brown of Swainsboro; stepsister, Angie (Miles) Martin Smith of Augusta; stepbrother, Chuck Martin of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.
