Josephine Riner Jackson, age 102, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Emanuel County Nursing Home. Funeral service was held Saturday, February 3, at 2 p.m. at Corinth Church with Rev. Wes Webb officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, February 3, at Corinth Church.

Pallbearers were Mark Williams, Bill Griffin, Howard Riner, Josh Frederick, Trey Powell and Stan Flanders.

Mrs. Jackson was born on July 23, 1921, in Meeks, to the late Morris T. Riner Sr. and Vianna Woods Riner. She was a member of Corinth Church. Mrs. Josephine served in the United States Coast Guard. She was a homemaker and enjoyed helping people in need. Mrs. Josephine loved to make candy but was especially known for her Peanut Brittle recipe. She also enjoyed sewing for people in the neighborhood and church community and working in the garden. Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Wilbur “Flip” Jackson.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her son, Joe H. Jackson (Daphne) of Kite; daughter, Sara Jackson (Chuck Canady) of Swainsboro; two grandchildren, Jake Jackson and Kate Jackson; and two nephews, Howard Riner and Morris T. Riner, III.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corinth Church, c/o Madison Foskey, 451 Foskey Road, Adrian, GA 31002; St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to a charity of your choice.

Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
