Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mr. Leland Tapley, age 91, of Kite, on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the Tomlinson Funeral Home chapel. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery near Kite.

Mr. Tapley was born July 24, 1934, near Summertown, to the late Walter Hinton and Thelma Kate Bishop Tapley. He retired from Roper Industries in Swainsboro and was a member of Kite Baptist Church. Leland loved fishing, riding his golf cart and enjoying meals with friends and family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tapley is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Newsome Tapley; brothers, David Tapley and Walter Henry Tapley; and sister Carolyn Tapley.

Survivors include his sisters, Lessie Tapley Beasley of Swainsboro and Henrietta Tapley Toole of Stockbridge; brother, Eddie Lewis Tapley (Brenda) of Milledgeville; stepson, Billy Newsome; step-granddaughter, Karen Slater; step-great-grandson, Cody Usry; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Tomlinson Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
