Georgia Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones was in Swainsboro this past week meeting with local citizens and discussing his plans to seek the state’s top executive position in the November 2026 election. Jones hopes to follow Governor Brian Kemp as Georgia’s next Republican governor and continue the record of the smart, business-like management that the Republicans governors before him have compiled, ” Georgia has the reputation across this country as being one of the most pro-business locations anywhere, and that has paid off for the working families in this state. We are making strides in education at every level, in health care, in reducing taxes and in moving ahead in the AI world. A special interest of mine is focusing more on the rural areas of our state and providing the development assistance to bring all of Georgia ahead together.” Jones commented. “I’m a small-town boy, graduated and played football 4 years at the University of Georgia and have been a small business owner ever since, so I know what teamwork is all about”. Jones’ first step toward the Governor’s post will begin with the Republican primary in May of next year.
