The Emanuel County Humane Society is excited to announce they have received some grant money to assist our pet owners with the spaying of their cats and dogs. This money is being provided by the Emanuel County Commissioners and the City of Swainsboro to help lower the number of dogs/puppies coming into our animal shelter as well as stray cats/kittens uncontrolled in our neighborhoods and living out of trash dumpsters. The grant money will be used primarily for the spaying of the fe-male population of dogs and cats. In some cases, male dogs/cats may also qualify to be neutered.
Emanuel County Humane Society members are working hard to stretch this grant money as far as it can go and help as many pets as possible. Their mission is to lower the number of unwanted puppies and kittens being born in our community daily, which end up in our over-crowded shelter and on our streets. To qualify for assistance, you are asked to fill out an application, confirm that you are an Emanuel County resident, and briefly explain why you need assistance. Promptly return the form to the Emanuel County Humane Society, and a member of that organization will contact you by telephone to discuss your eligibility for the program. Applications are available at Franklin Memorial Library, Swainsboro Animal Hospital, McRae Veterinarian Clinic, The Betty Gambrell Animal Shelter, Swainsboro City Hall and Twin City City Hall.
