On Tuesday, June 3 at approximately 4:30 pm, the Swainsboro Police Department received a request from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for assistance in the apprehension of a murder suspect. A description of the armed suspect and the stolen vehicle was provided to the SPD who immediately saturated the area where the suspect was reportedly located.

With assistance from the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office, officers and deputies were able to locate, identify, and apprehend the suspect identified as Randall Peacock, Jr., age 25, of Baxley.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Emanuel County Detention Center then transferred to Appling County Jail.

He is charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Theft by Taking in connection to the death of Jessica Peacock, age 36, of Baxley, GA.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at about 8:15 a.m., the Appling County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call that indicated a woman had been found dead by her husband at their home located in the 1000 block of Altamaha School Road in Baxley. Preliminary information indicates that Randall shot and killed Jessica (Randall’s stepmother), and then stole her vehicle and fled the scene.

The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler, Georgia will complete an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.

The Swainsboro Police Department would like to thank the participating officers and deputies for their hard work and devotion to keeping our community safe.
