Jerlyn Smith-Hudson is a native of Wrens. She is a member of Wrens Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she received her calling to the ministry and practical training in different aspects of ministry. Jerlyn is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the Augusta South District of the Augusta Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and is the newly appointed pastor at New Mt. Moriah, 1st, 2nd & 4th Sundays, and Coleman Chapel, 3rd Sundays. Both are located in Swainsboro. Visit their facebook page or call 706.443.3716.

Reverend Smith-Hudson completed her undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University. She has also successfully completed the Turner Theological Seminary Certificate Program in Theology.

Jerlyn is a Bible teacher who loves engaging others in God’s Word. Her passion is reaching people and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ outside the walls through ministries she has founded and incorporated to show Jesus’ unconditional love to people who may or may not attend church. Jerlyn is the publisher of the first Christian news publication in Jefferson County, The Christian Voice 5, and the founder of the Bettye Jean Stephens Bible Academy.

Jerlyn is the daughter of the late Reverend Bettye Jean Stephens who demonstrated a pastor’s heart as an example that Reverend Smith-Hudson follows to this day. She is the mother of Joy, and the grandmother of Jamiria Danielle.

Jerlyn’s drive and passion for ministering is most reflected in the scripture Philippians 3:14, New International Version.

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
