On Saturday April 19, 2025, Emanuel County citizens came together for the second annual Keep Emanuel Beautiful (KEB) Trash Bash from 9 a.m. to noon. Over 30 representatives from Canoochee, Summertown, Swainsboro and Oak Park took to the streets in fluorescent yellow and orange vests and collected over 60 bags of trash, several signs and three tires.

KEB event coordinator, Tamera Gromala said, “We believe in community. We believe in keeping where we live and work beautiful. Our community is what we make it, together!”

The largest group award went to Oak Park. Mayor Micky Lindsey and KEB member Elease Turner received the award for the city.

The craziest find went to Tucker Morris for removing a pair of poopy pants from the roadside. Other interesting finds were car shocks and a fake $100 dollar bill.

Chairman Tony Hutcheson would like to thank everyone that participated and looks forward to the next opportunity to collaborate in cleaning and beautifying Emanuel County.

Anyone interested in taking part in KEB events, can leave a message at Keep Emanuel Beautiful on Facebook or attend the next meeting at Franklin Memorial Library on May 20 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

KEB would also like to thank Martin Awards for donating part of the trophy, the City of Swainsboro for donating pizzas, and Franklin Memorial for helping with flyers.
