Mrs. Pennie Bennett Riner, 64, of Nunez, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Augusta University. Funeral services were Saturday, December 7, at 11 a.m. at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Elder Sam Bowen officiating, assisted by Elder Will Martin and Elder Craig Lanier.

Interment followed at Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends from Friday, December 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Durden Hudson Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers were Mrs. Riner’s nephews, Robert Riner, Beau Pritchard and Brock Pritchard; cousins, William Roberson and Cecil Roberson; and family friend, Wayne St. Cyr (“Tic”).

Mrs. Riner was born on December 30, 1959, to the late Dan Bennett and Martha Douglas Bennett.

She was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church. Pennie was a part-time instructor at Southeastern Technical College when it was Swainsboro Technical College. She was self-employed, owning her own hair salon before retiring in 2022. Pennie married the love of her life, Charles Riner, and they had been together for 48 years. She enjoyed doing hair, spending time in her yard, and planting flowers. Pennie enjoyed sewing and crafts and loved cooking Thanksgiving dinners. Mrs. Riner is preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Riner is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles Riner of Nunez; son, Corey Bennett Riner of Nunez; daughter, Lisa Michele Riner of Nunez; brother, Doug Bennett (Teah) of Nunez; sisters, Dana Kirby (Bruce) of Swainsboro and Pam Jones (Johnny) of Louisville; grandson, Caleb Rhett Brown (Miranda) of Valdosta; great-grandson, David Rhett Brown; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
