Mr. Phillip Edwin Thompson, age 71, of Swainsboro, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah. Funeral services were held Friday, September 5, at 11 a.m. at Durden Hudson Funeral Directors with Rev. Mark Hardin officiating. Interment followed at Swainsboro City Cemetery. Family received friends for one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers were John Durden, Ashley Riner, Bobby Mason, Billy Cooler, Steve Applegate, Charles Elkins and Mark Smith. Honorary pallbearers were David Kettles and Joe Nasworthy.

Phil started every day with the reading of his Bible. He was a part owner of Phil-Rich Foods and the owner-operator of Prime Time Video. Phil was a member of the Swainsboro Country Club where he played many rounds with his friends. He was a member of the Praise Band at the Swainsboro First Methodist Church and was well known for the talent he had with his guitar. Phil loved cooking for and spending time with his family, farming, and his beach trips, and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Cecilia Thompson of Swainsboro; stepson, Joseph Seth Schrader of Swainsboro; sister, Phyllis (Richard) Reddish; sister-in-law, Deborah Burrows; brother-in-law, Robert Reddish; special niece, Jenny (Jeremy) Coulter of Statesboro; special nephew, Michael (Rebekah) Reddish of Swainsboro; great-nieces and nephews, Peyton Coulter, Claire Coulter, Gavin Reddish and Connor Reddish; and his girl-girls (dogs) Pinky and Belle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Gideons International, P.O. Box 365, Swainsboro, GA 30401 and/or Emanuel County Animal Shelter, 343 Market Street, Swainsboro, GA 30401.

Durden Hudson Funeral Director of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
