14 with sheriff's office complete certifications

Fourteen employees have completed new certifications, according to Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jeffrey Brewer says 13 individuals successfully fulfilled the requirements to complete the active shooter class. Held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center this year, the class was 16 hours. Now certified in active shooter situations are Major Nick Robertson, Captain Marc Curry, Lt. David Way, Lt. Elec Wheeler, Sgt. Anthony Dowd, Cpl. Cody Usry, and deputies Brandon Clark, Marcus Guerra, Melissa Guerra, Wilson Rodrigues, Cara Woods, Mason Russell (not pictured with this story), and Austin Williamson.

Melissa Guerra also successfully completed a class on sex offender registration through the Georgia Sheriff’s Association. This class will be useful to her as she fulfills her duties in registering and monitoring sex offenders in Emanuel.

Rounding out the group of 14 officials who have completed certifications recently is Investigator Michael Reddish. He took a 40-hour cybercrime investigations course at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth that covered types of internet crimes, basic networking, planning and preparation, investigation methodologies, effective documentation of a computer crime scene, and evidence collection, packaging, and transportation.
