16 indicted in October ‘21 term



An Emanuel County grand jury indicted 16 individuals on January 4. The October 2021 term saw the district attorney’s office present 15 bills of indictments for consideration, and the grand jury returned true bills for all cases.


Scott Michael George was indicted on one count exploitation and intimidation of a disabled adult, elderly person, or resident as well as one count deposit account fraud.


Stephanie Layne Roberson was indicted on one count first-degree burglary, one count second-degree criminal property damage, and one count obstruction of an officer.

In a second case, she was indicted on one count aggravated assault.


Thurston Lee Badie was indicted on one count kidnapping, two counts aggravated assault (family violence), and one count possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.


Fred Patrick Raymond was indicted on one count robbery by sudden snatching and one count criminal trespassing.


Steven Lance Futch was indicted on one count theft by taking and one count second-degree burglary.


David Alan Freeman was indicted on one count theft by taking.


Shonquzz Jovan Boston was indicted on one count possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, one count possession of methamphetamine, one count possession of alprazolam, one count suspended registration, and one count suspended license.


Kelvin Le’roy Marion was indicted on one count aggravated assault (family violence), one count terroristic threats, and one count simple battery (family violence).


Jeremy Ryan Rogers-Lane was indicted on one count first-degree burglary and one count impersonating an officer.


Niko De’marious Gates was indicted on one count interference with government property.


Teresa Newman was indicted on one count exploitation and intimidation of a disabled adult, elderly person, or resident.


Melody Nichole Dennis was indicted on two counts obstruction of an officer, two counts terroristic threats, and one count disorderly conduct.


Tyrone Untario Carswell Jr. was indicted on one count armed robbery, one count aggravated assault, one count possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one count entering an automobile.


Antonio Terry Phillips Jr. was indicted on one count armed robbery, one count aggravated assault, one count possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one count entering an automobile, and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.


Brooke Lyn Gregoire was indicted on one count theft by taking, one count second-degree criminal property damage, one count criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark, one count possession of clonazepam, one count possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one count battery, and one count possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce).


Sean Robert Speed was indicted on one count aggravated assault, one count criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark, one count possession of clonazepam, one count possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one count possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce), and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Paperwork for all of these indictments was filed January 5, 2022.

There is one additional report to be submitted concerning the inspection of the county offices.

That report, however, was not submitted on January 4 due to a medical issue with one of the grand jurors. This report will be presented prior to the close of the term.


There being no further business, the grand jury recessed.
