4-H Archery Team registration now open

4-H Archery registration has begun! This activity is available to 4th-12th Graders that live or go to school in Emanuel County.

To register for this year’s program, stop by the Extension office to complete all forms and pay your non-refundable $75 participation fee. The participant registration fee will cover a variety of expenses including awards, one t-shirt per participant, training fees for coaches, and supplies and equipment for the team. Forms and payment must be returned at the Emanuel County Extension office before 5pm, Friday, October 28, 2022, to be eligible for participation. Weekly practices will be held at the Emanuel County Livestock Barn beginning Sunday, October 30.

Emanuel County 4-H offers the indoor archery program during the fall and winter. The State Indoor Event will be held in Perry at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and will consist of a 330 round with 30 arrows shot in 10 ends of 3 arrows at 18 meters. Youth in 4th-12th grade may choose to shoot compound or recurve bows, and younger youth in 4th-6th grade can shoot bows with universal draw-length and no sights in a novice division. For specific questions about equipment requirements, you may contact the Extension/4-H Office.

To be eligible for participation, each youth must complete a Hunter’s Safety Course with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. For more information on the courses available, visit the DNR website at http://georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us. For more information on 4-H Project SAFE, how to become a volunteer, or our other programs, call Emanuel County Extension at (478)237-1226 or visit our office located at 129 North Anderson Drive in Swainsboro.
