878th Old soldiers attend 9th reunion

On Thursday night, November 3, 2022, 31 members and a few family members drove from all over Georgia to McKinney Pond for the 878th Old Soldiers annual supper. The oldest member attending was Brigadier General Jack Cooper who commanded the 878th Combat Engineer Battalion from 1977 - 1980. There were representatives from the Battalion Staff, HSC (Augusta), Company A (Augusta), Company B (Sandersville/Louisville), Company C (Lyons) and Company D (Swainsboro). The group enjoyed a great meal of Shrimp, Catfish, Steak and Chicken Fingers. They also enjoyed old stories about their experiences since the 878th was formed January 1, 1968.

The Battalion, since forming, has deployed to Grenada, Panama Canal, Somalia, Egypt (twice), Jordan, Oman, Iraq (twice) and Afghanistan.
